To provide a power steering system which makes comfortable steering operation during the traveling of a vehicle by the hydraulic pressure of an electrically-driven hydraulic pump and which supplies a standby hydraulic pressure to a transmission which uses hydraulic pressure during the idling stop of the vehicle, and also provide a vehicle and a method of controlling the same.
A power steering system includes a motor 30 which drives a first hydraulic pump 11 of an EHPS system 10 for supplying, during the traveling of a vehicle 1, a hydraulic pressure to a power steering 13 which assists the steerability of the vehicle 1 and also drives the second hydraulic pump 21 of a standby hydraulic pressure supply system 20 for supplying a standby hydraulic pressure to a transmission using hydraulic pressure during the idling stop of the vehicle 1 during which the steerability of the vehicle 1 does not need to be assisted.
