Abstract:
To suppress damage in a capacitor connected in parallel to a power supply apparatus that includes plural battery modules and is capable of switching an output voltage stepwise and supplying a vehicular rotary electric machine with power.SOLUTION: A power supply apparatus includes: battery means 5 having plural battery modules 5a-5d; plural switch means 5e-5m for switching a connection state of the battery modules from any one of serial connection, parallel connection and serial-parallel connection to any one of other connections; voltage control means for controlling the switch means; drive means for driving the rotary electric machine with power from the battery means; and a capacitor connected to the drive means in parallel with the battery means. Further included is control means for supplying the capacitor with power regenerated by the drive means in the case of switching the connection state of the battery module, and switching voltages of the battery means after a difference in potential between a voltage of the capacitor and a voltage of the battery means after the switching becomes less than a given value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
