To improve protective operation of a power control system from a load or abnormality of a power semiconductor device for driving and to increase safety of the system.
The power supply device for vehicles has a plurality of modules which comprises a power semiconductor device which controls power supply conditions to a load mounted on a vehicle, a heat conductor which discharges heat generated by the power semiconductor device, a temperature detecting means that detects temperatures of the heat conductor, and a control means that controls the power semiconductor device. When a temperature of one of the plurality of modules detected by the temperature detecting means exceeds a predetermined temperature, the control means of the module interrupts the power semiconductor device of the module and sends failure information to other modules. The control means of other modules which have received the failure information interrupt the power semiconductor devices of the modules.
