To provide a power supply device having very simple and highly reliable construction for detecting whether the power line of a load is connected to the power supply device having a function not to supply power, when power supply to electric equipment or the load is stopped because of the occurrence of a power failure or the removal of a plug from a socket or when power is resupplied as a power switch for the electric equipment or the load remains on.
The power supply device includes a detecting means for detecting whether the power line of the load is connected thereto. Namely, when a plug blade of the power line of the load is inserted into a blade receiver of a multipole insertion connector as a means for connecting the power line of the load, the detecting means detects that the blade receiver is thrust and biased by the plug blade to generate voltage between at least one contact abutting on the biased blade receiver and the other pole.
