To provide a power supply device which prevents discharge vibration of a Hall thruster and achieves high efficient operation thereof while always stably and properly maintaining characteristics of the Hall thruster for a long period of time.
The power supply device includes: control means 28 controlling an anode voltage Va applied to an anode electrode 14 of an ion accelerator, a gas flow rate Q to a gas flow system and a coil current Ic flowing in coils 12, 13 for generating a magnetic field; and current measuring means 29 measuring the anode current Ia flowing in the anode electrode 14. The control means 28 temporarily changes the coil current Ic flowing to the coils 12, 13 for generating a magnetic field, within a predetermined range, and adjusts the coil current Ic to be supplied to the coils 12, 13 for generating a magnetic field, to the optimum value based on a value of the anode current Ia measured by the current measuring means 29 along with changes in the coil current Ic.
