To achieve a preferable power supply to a low voltage load, by including a means for discriminating the fault of a high voltage load, and by operating a low voltage mode when the fault of the high voltage load is detected by the means for discriminating the fault in a control means being operated in the low voltage mode or a high voltage mode.
A change over switch 37 consists of a relay switch, and switches the connection between a terminal 38 for high voltage and a terminal 39 for low voltage corresponding to a control signal being issued by an ECU 31. When the output voltage of an alternator 36 is set to the high voltage, the ECU 31 issues the command of high voltage output to a regulator 35, and also issues a command that should be connected to the terminal 38 for high voltage, namely, the command of a high-voltage mode, to the change over switch 37. On the other hand, when the output voltage of the alternator 36 is set to a low voltage, the ECU 31 issues the command of low voltage output to a regulator 35, and also issues a command that should be connected to the terminal 39 for low voltage, namely, the command of a low voltage mode, to the change over switch 37.
