To provide a power supply for plasma display capable of essentially reducing whining sound caused due to pulse-form increase/decrease variation of current of the power unit for plasma display accompanied by sustain discharge of a PDP(plasma display panel).

In the power supply for plasma display, the current of a direct current power supply DCvs to be regularly fed to a sustain discharge driving part 9 through a power feeding line is detected by a current sensor 14, when the current detected by the current sensor 14 becomes the preset reduced current or less, the direct current power supply DCvs is boosted by the boost converter part of a DC-DC converter part 2, the boosted power supply is supplied to the step-down converter part of the DC-DC converter part 2 via a capacitor 13 for energy storage, the stable stepped-down output of the step-down converter part is fed to other circuit part related to display drive of the PDP8 and the pulse-form increase/decrease variation of current of the direct current power supply DCvs is suppressed.
