To provide a power supply system capable of reducing the number of switching elements.
In this power supply system, an AC/DC adaptor 121 supplies power to a load 125 and a charger 122. The charger includes a high side FET 102 and a low side FET 103 both operating on a synchronous rectification method and charges batteries 108, 109. When a commercial power supply fails, a power failure detecting circuit provided to the charger detects the power failure and outputs a power failure signal. The charger receiving the power failure signal sets the high side FET to on-keep, allowing the current discharged from the battery to flow through a discharge channel 119, with a reduction in the number of FET as compared with other power supply systems.
