To reduce power consumption on standby of electrical appliances, such as an air-conditioner and a refrigerator.
In normal operation, a switch means 3 is turned off and a switch means 2 is turned on, power is supplied from a commercial power supply 1 to a power supply 31 of an outdoor unit B, and the outdoor unit B is in operation state. One output of the power supply 31 is supplied to an indoor unit A and charges a double-layer capacitor 7 via a DC-DC converter 11, and the charge voltage of the capacitor 7 becomes the power supply voltage of a microcomputer 9. At standby, the switch means 2 is turned off, and the outdoor unit B is set at halt. In the indoor unit A, the microcomputer 9 monitors the charge voltage of the capacitor 7 by a voltage detection element 8, turns on the switch means 3, when the charge voltage decreases and reaches the lower limit of a prescribed voltage range required as the control voltage of the microcomputer 9, and charges the capacitor 7 by an auxiliary power supply 6. When the charge voltage reaches the upper limit of the above prescribed voltage range, the microcomputer 9 turns off the switch means 3.
