To provide a power supply unit where there is little power loss and the residual quantity of a storage battery can be easily checked.
The power unit possesses a DC power source 1, a charger 2, a storage battery 4, an inverter unit 31, a power cable 1 for supply of power at a place apart from the inverter unit 31, and a power output part 71; inputs the DC power from the DC power source 1 into the inverter unit 31 via the charger 2 and the storage battery 4; and supplies the AC power converted in the inverter unit 31 to load via the power cable 11 and the power output part 71. In the unit, the power output part 71 is provided with a battery's residual quantity informing means 12 which informs a user of the residual quantity of the storage battery 4 by a signal geared to the residual quantity of the storage battery 4 outputted from a battery's residual quantity detecting means 9 for detecting the residual quantity of the storage battery 4 from the output voltage of the storage battery 4.
