Abstract:
PURPOSE: To protect a power supply by preventing breakdown thereof due to voltage inbalance between two smoothing capacitors connected in series at the post-stage of an input rectifier.
CONSTITUTION: A protective unit 15 detects inbalance of terminal voltage between two smoothing capacitors 4, 5 based on the voltage between the joint of two resistors 13, 14 for detecting voltage inbalance connected in series between DC output terminals of an input rectifier 3 and the joint of the capacitors 4, 5. During the interval when an inbalance is detected, driving of an inverter 6 or 7 being fed with power from a low voltage side capacitor 4 or 5 is stopped. When more positive protection is required, a timer 16 measures the inbalance detecting time of the protective unit 15 to produce an open command upon elapse of a predetermined time after start of detection and an interrupter 17 opens an input switch 2 based on the open command.
