To provide a power tool capable of protecting a power transmission belt, a gear or the like by reducing reaction by a simple structure when a motor is activated or a brake is stopped.
The power tool includes: a motor serving as a driving source; an end tool to be driven to rotate by torque of the motor; and a transmission means provided between the tip tool and the motor. The transmission means is constituted of: a motor shaft (rotary shaft) 22 having a contact surface between a small diameter part and a large diameter part; a pulley (rotating member) 23 rotatably and axially movably provided on the small diameter part of the motor shaft 22; and a spring (urging means) 41 for urging the pulley 23 toward the contact surface of the motor shaft 22. The pulley 23 is moved on the motor shaft 22 against the urging force of the spring 41 according to the difference in torque between the pulley 23 and the motor shaft 22 to cut the transmission of the torque from the motor to the pulley 23.
