To provide a power transmission chain which enables a countermeasure against chain breakage to be taken without using a chain breakage countermeasure member (frame body, for instance) of a separate part and thereby enables manufacturing cost to be cut sharply compared with a chain using a chain breakage countermeasure member of a separate part, and to provide a power transmission device using the chain.
A plurality of links 11, 21 are partially structured as shock absorbing links 21 which absorb a shock when the power transmission chain 1 is broken and collides with a housing 30. The shock absorbing links 21 have a radial outward projection 22 which projects outward in the chain radial direction from the outer peripheral surfaces of other links 11 and, when the chain 1 is broken, absorbs a shock by colliding with the housing 30 first.
