To secure an appropriate traveling state when any abnormality is generated in a control object in the power transmission controller for a vehicle, which is applied to the vehicle equipped with an internal combustion engine and a motor as a power source.
The power transmission controller for the vehicle is provided with a switching mechanism for selectively switching the connection state of an output shaft A4 of an M/G40 to an "IN connection state" that a power transmission system is formed between a transmission input shaft A2 and a motor output shaft A4, an "OUT connection state" that the power transmission system is formed between a transmission output shaft A3 and a motor output shaft A4, and a "neutral state" that the power transmission system is not formed. When it is determined that abnormality is generated in any of an E/G10, M/G40, clutch device M2, a transmission M1, and switching device M3, the M/G connection state is switched to a prescribed connection state given priority over a selection result based on a "normal switching map" according to the content of the abnormality in order to secure the appropriate traveling state.
