A connected condition (the transmission of driving force) or a disconnected condition (the transmission stop of driving force) between an input shaft 6 and an output shaft 10 arranged in a driving force transmission passage in a disengageable manner is selected to control the transmission of the driving force. The magnetic force of first and second permanent magnets 12, 8 is used for holding a movable plate 9 to advance or retreat to establish the connected condition or the disconnected condition between the input shaft 6 and the output shaft 10. A current is supplied to first and second electromagnets 20, 21 to generate electromagnetic force, whereby the movable plate 9 is moved forward or backward to select the connected condition or the disconnected condition between the input shaft 6 and the output shaft 10.
