To provide a controller for power transmission device which can prevent occurrence of gear shift shock in such a state that the request quantity of a driving force is constant.
This controller for power transmission device, in which an internal combustion engine and a motor are connected to a differential mechanism, and a transmission mechanism for selectively transmitting torque to be output from the differential mechanism to an output member is installed, is provided with: a motor control means (step S02) for changing the torque of the motor when shifting gears in the transmission mechanism; an internal combustion engine control means (step S03) for controlling the output torque of the internal combustion engine so that the change of the torque of the output member can be suppressed according to the increase/decrease of the torque of the motor by the motor control means; and a change rate control means (step S02) for, when the change control of the output torque of the internal combustion engine by the internal combustion control means is impossible, making the change rate of the torque of the motor different from the change rate of the motor when the change control of the output torque of the internal combustion engine is possible.
