Abstract:
To provide a power transmission device that can prevent the generation of noise, and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: A power transmission device can transmit a driving force from a motor to a developing roller in an image forming apparatus, and comprises: a planetary gear mechanism 210 having a ring gear 212 that receives input of the driving force, a carrier 213 that outputs the driving force, and a sun gear 211 that can transmit the driving force when its rotation is restricted and does not transmit the driving force when its rotation is not restricted; a switching member 220 that can rotate integrally with the sun gear 211; an engagement member that is movable between a position where it is engaged with a convex part 222 of the switching member 220 to restrict the rotation of the sun gear 211 and a position where it is separated from the convex part 222 to not restrict the rotation of the sun gear 211; and a one-way clutch 240 that is located between the sun gear 211 and the switching member 220, and transmits the rotation of the sun gear 211 to the switching member 220 when the motor rotates normally and does not transmit the rotation of the sun gear 211 to the switching member 220 when the motor rotates reversely.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
