Abstract:
PURPOSE:To made it possible to turn a vehicle with a minimum radius, by providing an one-way clutch for transmitting drive power in only one direction from the power unit side to the front wheel side upon advance of the vehicle, and by cutting off the transmission of the power toward the front wheels upon turning of the vehicle during advance. CONSTITUTION:When a vehicle advances on a straight course or a moderately curved course, the drive torque of output shaft 14 of a power unit 5 is transmitted to a first front propeller shaft 231 and a rear universal joint 28 through bevels 21, 22, and a drive shaft 18. As a result, the front wheels and the rear wheels are driven, simultaneously, and therefore, the vehicle exhibits a satisfactory ability of advance running. Meanwhile, when the vehicle turns into a turning course, since the rotational speed of the front wheels is made to be higher than that of the rear wheels, the rotational speed of an clutch inner 32 in an one-way clutch 24 becomes higher than that of a clutch outer 31 to effect slipping condition. As a result, the power transmission from the first front propeller shaft 231 to a front universal joint 25 is cut off, and therefore, the rear wheels alone is driven.
