The power transmission device is made to Neidhart structure such that a damper 140 is shearing-deformed while compression-deformed when a torque is applied to a pulley 110. Thereby, since an elastic coefficient of the damper can be made small as compared with the application in which the variation of torque is mainly absorbed only by compressive deformation, the variation of the torque can be sufficiently absorbed without causing a large size of the coupling 100. In this connection, the torque is transmitted by reaction force generated accompanying with deformation of a component in a rotation direction of the deformation of the damper 140 (compressive deformation and shearing-sdeformation). The variation of the torque is absorbed by the deformation (compressive deformation and shearing deformation) of the damper 140.
