Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of a hump phenomenon by providing a volume changing means which increases the volume of an operating chamber when the temperature of the viscous fluid rises high. CONSTITUTION:A part of a wall 26 of an operating chamber 25 is provided with a void 41 in addition to a member 42 which covers this void 41 and is transformed by heat. This member 42 is made of shape memory alloys and, when the silicone oil adjacent to the member 42 reaches a high temperature, is displaced toward the outside of the operating chamber 25, thereby increasing the volume of the operating chamber 25. On the contrary, when the temperature of the silicone oil becomes low, the member 42 returns to its original shape, thereby putting the volume of the operating chamber 25 back to the original state. Accordingly, when the silicone oil reaches a high temperature, the pressure of the silicone oil is lowered because of the displacement of the member 42. Therefore, the occurrence of a hump phenomenon can be prevented, while the durability of the visous coupling VC 10 can be enhanced.
