This power transmitting device includes a rotary shaft 3 having a first screw connecting portion 32, a pulley 1 rotatably installed in a casing 4 of rotary equipment, a hub 2 connected to the pulley 1 and connected to the rotary shaft 3 by screwing a second screw connecting portion 234 formed along the center axis to the first screw connecting portion 32 of the rotary shaft 3, and a breakage expected portion 236 provided in the hub 2 or the rotary shaft 3 to cut transmission of the excessively large torque. Shot peening is performed to the second screw connecting portion 234 of the hub 2 and/or the first screw connecting portion 32 of the rotary shaft 3.
