To provide a power transmission device to be used for a vehicle provided with a torque converter, capable of dispensing with an electric oil pump.
The power transmission device includes: a torque converter 1; a clutch means 3; an oil pump 31; a clutch control means 4; an engine control means 22 which automatically stops an engine for idling stop, and starting the engine in a predetermined condition; a linear solenoid 28 which controls a clutch pressure that is a hydraulic pressure of oil to be supplied to the clutch means 3; and a selector valve capable of selecting whether to give the clutch pressure controlled by the linear solenoid 28 to the clutch means 3 or not. When the engine during and after idling stop is started, the selector valve is maintained to give the clutch pressure controlled by the linear solenoid to the clutch means.
