PURPOSE: To prevent the damage of an equipment due to a battery failure by dividing batteries into a plurality of parts the numbers of batteries are almost equal to each other, and separately measuring the voltage of each part, by comparing each measured voltage with a set point and by generating a signal and performing a display corresponding to the signal, when a specified relation is recognized between the set point and each measured voltage.
CONSTITUTION: The terminal voltage of a battery 18 is measured always or intermittently by a measuring means. In this case, a series-connected battery 18 is divided into a plurality of parts and the voltage of each part is separately measured by the measuring means. Therefore, when the voltage value is compared with a set point (a) by a comparing means and there is a certain relation between the voltage value and the set point (a), e.g. the voltage value of each part is less than the set point (a) or the difference voltage between respective parts is extraordinarily large, a display corresponding to the stage is performed by a display means so that an operator is informed of the state of the battery 18. Thus, it is possible to prevent the failure accident of an equipment due to the gas leakage, etc., of the battery 18.
