To provide a power window apparatus which positively detects nipping in a short period of time, and minimizes malfunctions such as erroneous halting or inversion of window opening/closing operation when the window is not fully opened, fully closed, or in a nipping state.
The power window apparatus is comprised of a control section 14 which measures ripple current which is generated with frequency relative to the number of poles of a motor 11, and determines that pinching has occurred when an interval between generation of the ripple current is extended. As to a fully opened/fully closed state, a pulse generator 15 for generating pulses according to rotation of the motor 11 is installed on a rotation shaft of the motor which carries out accurate generation. The control section measures the number of pulses generated from the pulse generator 15, and when the number reaches a predetermined value, the fully opened/fully closed stat is determined, to thereby stop the motor 11.
