Abstract:
To provide a propeller blade assembly which eliminates play produced when centrifugal load is imposed during operation.
A propeller blade assembly 1 includes a plurality of propeller blades 10 respectively connected to a hub through the medium of at least one of bearing assemblies 3, 4. A pre-load is imposed on respective propeller blades and bearing assemblies through a pre-load path including the bearing assemblies and blade bases 11 of respective propeller blades. The pre-load path is provided with a spring 6. When a component of the propeller blade assembly is worn, the spring maintains the pre-load. A method for imposing a pre-load on the propeller blade assembly is also disclosed.
