Title:
PRE-TREATMENT AT THE TIME OF MELTING SCRAP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3242027
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the remained dioxide in exhaust gas as much as possible by absorbing chlorine base gas causing the generation of the deoxine in a scrap preheating furnace.
SOLUTION: Just before or just after charging the scrap 4 into the scrap preheating furnace 3, slaked lime 7 is charged into the scrap preheating furnace, and calcium chloride CaCl2 is produced by the reaction of the chlorine base gas and dioxine generated from the preheated scrap with the slaked lime Ca(OH)2 to restrain the generation of the dioxide. Together with this effect, Ca(OH)2 is coated on the scrap to prevent the oxidation of the scrap, and the inputting energy in a melt refining furnace is saved. The calcium chloride is charged into the melt refining furnace 2 together with the preheated scrap and also, functions as slag-making promoter and thereby, available good quality slag without fluorine can be obtd.
