Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continue brake control even if vehicle speed is lower than the lower limit speed of follow-up control by providing a follow-up control release means for continuing only braking force control by a braking device and releasing all other follow-up control.
SOLUTION: In follow-up control release processing, whether the present vehicle speed is within a vehicle speed range for the execution of follow-up control is confirmed (step 1). In the case of the vehicle speed being lower than the lower limit speed of follow-up control, whether conditions of follow-up control release are satisfied is confirmed (step 2), and follow-up control release processing is executed upon judging no problem in releasing all follow-up control (step 4). In case of not satisfying all the conditions for the release of follow-up control, only the brake control is continued, and other follow-up control is released (step 3). Braking force control is thus continued even if the vehicle speed is lower than the lower limit speed of follow-up control, so that appropriate vehicle-to-vehicle distance can be maintained.
