Abstract:
To provide a prechamber type internal combustion engine promoting combustion in the prechamber and expanding lean combustion limit by performing strong torch radiation to a main combustion chamber.
The prechamber type internal combustion engine is provided with the main combustion chamber 63, the prechamber 61 and a plasma jet igniter 70. The prechamber 61 is provided adjacently to the main combustion chamber 63. The plasma jet igniter 70 ignites air-fuel mixture introduced to the prechamber 61 from the main combustion chamber 63 by injection of plasma jet. A cross-sectional shape of the prechamber 61 on a plane perpendicular to injecting axis line of the plasma jet is round.
