Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing Mn and Cr together with S and P from molten pig iron, which can moderately regulate for tapping the low-Cr molten pig iron or low-Mn molten pig iron in operating a blast furnace, and can increase a degree of freedom for blending raw materials.
SOLUTION: This method comprises forming top slag through desulfurizing molten pig iron containing Si of 0.08% or more, and blowing an oxidizing agent and a flux, while maintaining the basicity Bi(CaO/SiO2) of the top slag to 1.8 or higher, which is defined in the equation: Bi=(CaO in the blown flux)/(SiO2 in the blown flux + generated SiO2 by oxidation of Si in molten pig iron during blowing).
