Abstract:
To secure rigidity during low speed rotation, to prevent excessive pre-load during high speed rotation, and to prevent preload change by bearing heat generation.SOLUTION: A preload adjusting type spindle unit includes: a main shaft 1 freely rotatably supported in a housing 2 by a pair of bearings 3, 4; an inner ring spacer 8 arranged between inner rings 10 of the bearings; a pair of outer ring spacers 7 arranged between outer rings 9 of the bearings at an interval; a stopper 13 arranged between the outer ring spacers; and pistons 5, 6 arranged outside the outer rings of the bearings. Preload is adjustable by compressing the outer ring spacers with the pistons in the axial direction of the main shaft. Moreover, there are provided a shaft center side cooling liquid conveying path inside the main shaft and an outer ring side cooling liquid conveying path around the outer ring spacer 7. The inner ring spacer 8 is cooled down by the cooling liquid passing the shaft center side cooling liquid conveying path, the outer ring spacer 7 is cooled by the cooling liquid passing the outer ring side cooling liquid conveying path, and thermal expansion of the outer ring spacer and the inner ring spacer by influences of heat generation of the bearing is prevented.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
