To provide a preload mechanism suitable for an adequate resin form by miniaturizing and slimming a four-point contact bearing.
The preload mechanism comprises a preload ring 52 for clamping a preload spring 53a in the direction of its coil diameter, and a rotary base 1. A space between the preload ring 52 and the rotary base 1 is smaller than the coil diameter of the preload spring 53a, and the preload ring 52 and the rotary base 1 compress the preload spring 53a in the direction of the coil diameter to generate a preload. The compression of the preload spring 53a in the direction of the coil diameter is utilized for imparting a uniform force of the preload while eliminating the influences of friction between the preload spring 53a and each of the preload ring 52 and the rotary base 1.
