Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress combustion noise without deteriorating thermal efficiency unnecessarily.SOLUTION: When an engine is operated in a first operation region in which a load is not smaller than a prescribed value, fuel is injected during an intake stroke or a compression stroke, and a fuel injection valve 11 and a water injection valve 57 are controlled so that water is injected at timing at which the water exists at an external peripheral part of a combustion chamber 10 immediately before the fuel is self-ignited after a finish of the fuel injection. When the engine is operated in a second operation region in which the load is not smaller than the prescribed value, and a rotational speed is higher than that in the first operation region, the fuel is injected during the intake stoke or the compression stroke, and the fuel injection valve 11 and the water injection valve 57 are controlled so that the water is injected at timing at which the water injection is retarded more than that in the first operation region so that the water exists in a center part of the combustion chamber 10 immediately before the self-ignition after the finish of the fuel injection.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
