Abstract:
To provide a premixing compression ignition type engine capable of reducing combustion noise and suppressing abnormal combustion by minimizing uneven flame propagation combustion in a combustion chamber.SOLUTION: A premixing compression ignition type engine includes a combustion chamber 6 defined by a cylinder 2 and a piston 5, an injector 14 for injecting a fuel toward a central region in a radial direction of the combustion chamber 6, and a water injection device 17 for injecting water into the combustion chamber 6. In the combustion chamber 6, an in-cylinder flow including a tumble flow Tu and a squish flow SqA toward a radial inner side is generated at a timing from at least a latter half of a compression stroke to a compression top dead center. The water injection device 17 injects water to an injection region 6C excluding a first region 6A on a radial outer side with respect to a central region in the combustion chamber 6 and a second region 6B in which strength of the in-cylinder flow toward the radial inner side of the combustion chamber 6 becomes relatively strong.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
