NEW MATERIAL:Prenylquinone and hydroquinone derivatives expressed by formula I (X is formula II or formula III; R is H, 2 to 8C aliphatic acyl, hydroxy, 1 to 4C alkoxy, 1 to 4C alkyl, 2 to 8C aliphatic acyloxy, aroyl or heterocyclic acyl which may be replaced by halogen, excluding when X is formula II and R is H).
EXAMPLE: 2-(11-Hydroxymethyl-3,7,15-trimethyl-2,6,10,14-hexadecatetraenyl)-6- methyl-1,4-benzoquinone.
USE: Useful as a medicine for treating allergic disease, inflammation, or circulatory disease such as cardiac infraction or cerebral infraction.
PREPARATION: Nedimoctin expressed by formula IV is esterified and the resultant nedimoctin ester expressed by formula V is reduced to an alcohol, followed by oxidation, acylation and reduction to provide the compound expressed by formula VI in the formula I.
