Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare 12β-hydroxyandrosta-1,4-diene-3,17-dione, in high selectivity and yield, by culturing microorganisms belonging to Aeromonas genus in a medium containing deoxycholic acid and/or its salt.
CONSTITUTION: Microorganism belonging to Aeromonas genus and capable of producing 12β-hydroxyandrosta-1,4-diene-3,17-dione using deoxycholic acid and/ or its salt as a substrate, e.g. Aeromonas hydrophila D-238 (FERM-P No.6149), is inoculated in a medium containing deoxycholic acid and/or its salt, and cultured at 25W35°C for 1W7 days under aerobic conditions. The objective 12β- hydroxy androsta-1,4-diene-3,17-dione can be separated from the culture liquid.
