PURPOSE: To prepare a compd. of high purity in a crystal form with high yield with water as a solvent by thermally decomposing starting substance such as starch in a vacuum, condensing the produced volatile components and thereafter purifying this by a specified method.
CONSTITUTION: At first, starting substance composed of starch and/or starch- contg. substance or cellulose-contg. substance and having ≤20% water content is thermally decomposed in a vacuum, and after that, the produced volatile components are condensed. Then, the condensate is filtered and neutralized, furthermore, if required, this is mixed with an adsorbent, and after that, ion exchange chromatography treatment is executed by using water as an eluent. Successively, the obtd. objective compd.-contg. components are concentrated, and after that, the evaporation and/or cooling and crystallization of the aq. solvent are executed to obtain the objective crystalline compd. from the aq. soln.
