Title:
PREPARATION OF 3-CHLOROPROPIONIC ACID
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2701229
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply prepare 3-chloropropionic acid with an excellent selectivity and a high productivity by simultaneously introducing hydrochloric acid gas and acrylic acid into a sediment consisting of the pure 3-chloropropionic acid or of the 3-chloropropionic acid diluted with water or an aqueous hydrochloric acid solution.
SOLUTION: (C) Hydrochloric acid gas and (D) acrylic acid are simultaneously introduced into a sediment essentially consisting of (A) 70-100 wt.% of 3- chloropropionic acid and (B) 0-30 wt.% of water or an aqueous hydrochloric acid solution, and the introduction of the hydrochloric acid gas, as necessary, is further continued to afford the 3-chloropropionic acid. The component B is preferably the 3-chloropropionic acid diluted with 5-20 wt.% of water or the 3-chloropropionic acid diluted with 5-25 wt.% of the aqueous hydrochloric acid solution or the pure 3-chloropropionic acid. The hydrochloric acid gas and acrylic acid are simultaneously introduced in a molar ratio of the components C/D of 0.70-1.30, preferably 0.80-1.15.
