Abstract:

PURPOSE: To stereoselectively obtain the composition useful as intermediate product for production of medicaments from an easily available starting compound in high yield and with a secure method by using specific hydroxy cholanic acid ester as starting substance.
CONSTITUTION: This compound of formula I [R(1) is H, OH; R(2) is H, α-OH, β-OH; R(3) is non-branched chain 1-4C alkyl, benzil] is obtained by reacting 3α-hydroxy cholanic acid ester (A) of formula II with phthalimide (B) to obtain 3β-phthalimide derivative (C) of formula III, reacting the (C) with hydrazine hydrate or phenyl hydrazine (D), treating reaction product with solution (E) of mineral acid to separate phthalimide groups to form acid-added salt of the (E) with the compound, and coverting obtained salt, when proper, into free compound of the compound.
