Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as an anticoccidial agent in high yield and high selectivity, by reacting a metallic salt of adenine with a 2,6-dihalogenobenzyl halide in the presence of polyethylene glycol as a phase tranfer catalyst.

CONSTITUTION: A metallic salt of adenine expressed by formulaI[M is a metal such as alkali metal or alkaline earth metal; (n) is an integer other than 0]is reacted with a 2,6-dihalogenobenzyl halide of formula II (X is chloro or bromo; Y and Z are chloro, bromo or fluoro) in the presence of polyethylene glycol of formula III (R is H or 1W4C alkyl) at room tempeature W150°C for 2W20hr to give the aimed substance. The averge molecular weight of the polyethylene glycol is about 600W4,000, and the amount thereof to be used is 1W20mol%. In addition to n-hexane, acetone, etc., polyethylene glycol may be used a reaction solvent.
