PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound in high yield in high reaction rate, by reacting silicon with an alkyl alcohol in a reaction solvent with a boiling point in a specific range consisting essentially of isoparaffin in the presence of a copper type catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: In a reaction solvent with a boiling point of 260W370°C consisting essentially of isoparaffin, 15W25C chain hydrocarbon having methyl, (iso) propyl group as side chains, in the presence of a copper type catalyst, silicon, preferably obtained by pulvering metal silicon having a purity of ≥80% into fine powder with an average particle size of ≤100μ, is reacted with an alkyl alcohol having 1W5C alkyl group at 220W260°C to give an alkoxysilane. The amount of the catalyst used is 0.0001W0.5mol based on 1mol metal silicon, and the amount of the solvent used is 1mlW10l based on 1g metal silicon.
