Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conveniently prepare a polymer in a high yield by polymerizing addition salts of various allylamines in a medium containing organic solvents in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator composed of a specific azo compound.
SOLUTION: Addition salts selected from allylamines are polymerized in a medium containing organic solvents in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator selected from azo compounds represented as formulas I and II. Preferably, the polymerization reaction is conducted using a monoallylamine addition salt or an N,N-dialkylamine addition salt in a medium containing organic solvents in the presence of 2,2'-azobis(methyl 2-nethylpropionate). In formulas I and II, R1 to R4 and R11 to R14 are each a hydrocarbon group; R1 and R2, R3 and R4 or R11 and R12, and R13 and R14 may be coupled to each other to form rings; R5 and R6 are each an alkyl group; and R15 and R16 are each a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group.
