PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate for preparing medicines, etc., by reacting an organic halogen compound with a secondary amine and CO in the presence of a catalytic amount of a palladium compound containing neither phosphine nor arsine.

CONSTITUTION: An organic halogen compound of the formula R1X (R1 is alkyl, etc.; X is halogen) is reacted with a secondary amine of the formula HNR2R3 (R2 and R3 are alkyl, etc.; R2, R3 and N may form a ring structure) in the presence of a catalytic amount of a palladium compound containing neither phosphine nor arsine within room temperature W200°C temperature range to give the aimed compound of the formula R1-CO-CO-NR2R3.

EFFECT: The aimed compound is obtained easily and in high selectivity by using the easily available palladium compound without using expensive phosphines.
