PURPOSE: To prepare the title polymer having high crystallinity and narrow molecular weight distribution, using a polymerization catalyst comprising an organic aluminum compound, an electron donor, and a solid product obtained by reacting a reaction product of a trivalent metal halide with a bivalent metal compound, with an electron donor and an electron acceptor.
CONSTITUTION: 1 mole of a trivalent metal halide such as AlCl3 is made to react with 0.1W20mol of a hydroxide, oxide, or carbonate of a bivalent metal, their double salt, or a hydrate of a bivalent metal compound, by co-crushing the components. The solid product thus obtained is reacted 1W10 times with an electron donor comprising an organic compound containing O, N, S or P and an electron acceptor comprising a halide of a IIIWVIII group element, wherein TiCl4 is used as the electron acceptor at least once. 100g of the solid product thus obtained is mixed with 50W5000g of an organic aluminum compound and 2W2000g of an electron donor to obtain the objective catalyst for the polymerization of α-olefin.
