Abstract:
PURPOSE: To efficiently prepare a carboxylic acid salt.
CONSTITUTION: A process for preparation of a carboxylic acid salt which comprises bringing an aqueous solution of a primary alcohol into contact with an alkali metal hydroxide in the presence of an effective amount of a copper catalyst that has from about 50 to 10,000 ppm of an element selected from the group consisting of chromium, titanium, niobium, tantalum, zirconium, vanadium, molybdenum, manganese, tungsten, cobalt, nickel and their mixtures.
