PURPOSE: To prepare anthraquinone in one step, by reacting o-xylene with oxygen in vapor phase in the presence of a solid oxidation catalyst and/or a phosphate-containing catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Antraquinone is prepared by the vapor-phase reaction of o- xylene with oxygen at 400W600°C in the presence of a solid oxidation catalyst and/or a phosphate-containing catalyst. The solid oxidation catalyst is those used ordinarily in the oxidation of hydrocarbons and alcohols, and the phosphate-containing catalyst is those containing a phosphoric acid salt of a metal ofIWVI, VIIb, VIII groups element, lanthanide element, actinide element, etc., especially a catalyst containing Ag, Fe2O3, MoO3, Cr2O3, V2O5, LaPO4, etc. When the reaction raw material are diluted with an inert gas (e.g. N2, CO2, etc.) before reaction, the reaction proceeds slowly, and the selectivity of the objective compound can be improved.
