PURPOSE: An antifogging agent for a resin film with excellent continuity, comprising an ester cpd. obtd. by the reaction of a polyhydric alcohol (deriv.), a higher fatty acid and at least one of a dibasic acid and a poly (meth) acrylic acid.

CONSTITUTION: An ester cpd. of the formula is obtd. by the reaction of, e.g., a polyoxyalkylene polyhydric alcohol ether obtd. by the addition of an alkylen oxide (e.g., ethylene oxide or propylene oxide) with a polyhydric alcohol (e.g., sorbitol), a 10W22C fatty acid (e.g., stearic acid) and a 4W10C dibasic acid (e.g., adipic acid). Said cpd., being compounded as an antifogging agent with a thermoplastic synthetic resin (e.g., polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene), is used for the preparation of agricultural and horticultural films with excellent, long-term, antifogging property and antimist property.
