PURPOSE: To obtain novel bis(diaminopolyalkoxy)-N-alkylamine easily by contact- aminating bis(polyalkoxy)-N-alkylamine and NH as raw materials in the presence of an amination catalyst.

CONSTITUTION: Bis(polyalkoxy)-N-alkylamine having steric hindrance of formula (R is CH3 or C2H5; R' is H or R; R" is isopropyl, tert-butyl; a is 1-100; x is 0-4) or formula II which prevents the attack of tertiary amine and facilitates the amination of the terminal OH of an alkylene oxide chain is contact-aminated with NH3 in the presence of an amination catalyst which is a hydrogenation/ dehydrogenation catalyst such as Raneyl nickel activated by Mo and in a liquid phase at 180-250°C and 500-3,000 psig (3.5-20.8 Mpa) to obtain an intended compound useful of the production of a curing agent for a thermosetting epoxy resin, polyurea, and polymide, etc.
