Abstract:
PURPOSE: To facilitate separation and recovery of expensive or toxic metal catalyst precursor particles in waste fluid.
CONSTITUTION: A substrate is coated with a mixture of metal powders and an oxide material, wherein the metal powders comprise a mixture of a base metal selected from the group consisting of rare earth elements, base metal transition elements and alkali earth metals, an alloy of a base metal or mixture thereof and have an average particulate diameter of above about 1 micron, and the oxide material is selected from the group consisting of support oxides, support oxide precursors and mixtures thereof. The metal powders can be converted in situ into active catalyst particles having an average diameter of about >2 microns.
