Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method to manufacture an inexpensive negative electrode for a fuel cell in a short time. CONSTITUTION: In the manufacturing of a negative electrode of a fused carbonate fuel cell containing lithium nickel oxide, nickel powder, lithium carbonate, the same organic binder as used in a matrix and a mixture containing organic solvent with a low boiling point are mixed and processed, the solvent is evaporated, the mixture is put in the fused carbonate type fuel cell and the fuel cell is heated to its usage temperature. The organic binder is preferably polyvinyl butyral, the organic solvent with a low boiling point is C1 -C3 alcohol and the aforementioned mixture contains at least a kind of dispersing agent and plasticizer. In addition, the dispersing agent is preferably triolein, the plasticizer is polyethylene glycol, the first suspension of the nickel powder and the lithium carbonate is made in ethanol and triolein, the second suspension is made by adding the polyvinyl butyral and the polyethylene glycol, and a mixture obtained is injected and molded by taping into a strip.
