PURPOSE: To obtain a high-concentration coal slurry which can be transported as a fluid, and to reduce the transportation coat, by mixing coals having different particle size distribution so as to attain a specific void ratio, and slurrying the mixture by adding a solvent thereto.
CONSTITUTION: Coal which is difficult to be converted to a high-concentration slurry and another kind of coal which can be converted to high-concentration slurry are finely pulverized separately with a screen mill, ball mill, etc. to obtain powdery coals having different particle size distribution. The coals are mixed together so as to attain a void ratio of ≤40%, and slurried with water containing e.g. 0.5wt% of an anionic surface active agent to obtain the objective coal slurry having a coal concentration of 55W75% and a particle size of usually ≤ about 2Pa.sec.
